A Winter Boho Festival Shoot at Markington Hall with The Malyn Edit

12.01.2020

When Hannah & Liam from The Malyn Edit asked if I’d like to be involved in their wintery boho shoot, I jumped at the chance to work with this lovely team. A day complete with vintage gypsy caravans, sequins, sparkle and macrame - yes please!

The shoot was arranged at the Copper Beech Glade at Markington Hall, which features a vintage gypsy caravan, a fire pit and log cabin! One small grumble I think a lot of brides have is the quick turn around in wedding venues but Markington Hall is one of a few venues in North Yorkshire that host only a handful of weddings each year. They really let their couples unleash their creativity, with a completely blank canvas and multiple set-up options for your ceremony, the venue is perfect for those looking for a wild boho, DIY and relaxed feel.

Kitted out in wellies and parkas, we arrived at Markington Hall on a lovely and bright, but blustery Saturday morning in January - thank goodness for hot water bottles! The brief for the stationery was to capture the relaxed and wild nature of a bohemian festival wedding, but in a wintery setting, rather than during the summer.

The colour scheme for the shoot was blue, and The Malyn Edit asked me to create day-of stationery items for the wedding table styling, which included table menus, name cards and table numbers.

I LOVE mixing up different textures and materials, and this was the perfect opportunity.

The stationery suite centred around a festival-inspired menu which featured a deconstructed miniature dream-catcher, geometric die-cut embellishments and wooden beading, with the addition of beautiful tiny feathers.

The whole shoot was a lovely celebration of soft textures and shapes, with leather threads tied through the beautiful hair styling by Lottie Haigh Hair , and pheasant feathers weaved through the stunning floral arrangements by Vanessa WildFlowers. We were excited to have the shoot featured on Festival Brides, which you can read all about here. Thanks to all the lovely suppliers involved, and a big thanks to Hannah and Liam for inviting me to be a part of this shoot!
