Our Winter meets Spring wedding at The Fig House, Middleton Lodge

Rachel & Lewis

We planned our wedding for March in The Fig House at Middleton Lodge, which we fell in love with the moment we saw it. The aesthetic is everything rustic we love about the converted barn we live in, mixed with a relaxed elegance which we knew would create the atmosphere we had in mind for our wedding day.

Celestial Blue Green Neutral
March is a tricky time of year to plan a wedding - you’re a little unsure of what the British weather will throw at you and I wanted a wedding colour theme that worked for both Winter and Spring. We decided on green, whites and pastel blue, mixed with a subtle celestial theme that was everywhere in 2019 and that I absolutely love!
In the months leading up to the wedding I liaised with various suppliers to visualise and plan the styling. I wanted the styling to match the atmosphere of the day - relaxed but refined. To achieve this, I sourced mis-matched vintage candlesticks and bud vases, keeping them in the same material and colour palette which kept the look cohesive.
The lovely Kirsty at The Wilde Floral bought the finished tables together on the day with gorgeous floral arrangements, bringing out the soft blue colour scheme with hints of blue delphiniums. I wanted lots of little stationery touches throughout the day including ceremony chair tags, order of services, personalised wedding breakfast menus, custom ‘madlib’ sheets, sparklers tags and more to make the day extra special. The entire day-of stationery suite was digitally printed with hints of the celestial theme throughout, and hand finished with navy blue velvet and splashes of gold foil for a luxurious feel.
The bespoke favour boxes contained stracciatella Lindt chocolates and were my favourite part of the table setting. Each box was made by hand from G.F Smith ‘New Blue’ cardstock and tied with a sheer white ribbon.
We had decided to have sparklers in the evening rather than confetti after the ceremony, so I designed custom cut sparkler tags to each sparkler, along with signage detailing the lighting times. These make a lovely additional little wedding favour and who doesn’t love a good sparkler shot?!
