Bespoke watercolour illustrations for a sun-soaked beachfront Cypriot wedding

Cyprus is a place that holds lots of special memories for the couple, and my mind instantly started thinking about ways we could weave their engagement story into their invitations. We started the exploration process by outlining what Nicola and Kris wanted from their wedding invitations. They had decided to base their stationery on a Cypriot theme, but also give their guests the sense that their wedding would take part on the oceanfront.

To meet their brief, I suggested a blue ombre watercolour wash, coupled with a hand-painted watercolour illustration of a sailing boat, featuring their initials. We also added hand-painted subtle travel elements throughout, with a custom die-cut RSVP travel tag, finished with a vintage travel stamp design. I kept the colour palette clean and simple to echo the clean white and blue lines you see across Cyprus and Greece. The individual items were printed on 270gsm white, with dark ‘Imperial Blue’ envelopes contrasting against the white card stock and the blue ombre wash. The individual items were digitally printed and the die-cut RSVP tag was hand-finished with a tied sheer white ribbon. The entire suite was hand-assembled with care, and secured with a contrasting blue belly band detailing the couples names and wedding date.
